When selfishness is a virtue? Selfish people don't seem to be wrong. Not loving everyone is okay since we must love our neighbors, not every person in the Universe.

Must??
Why must we love our neighbor?
What is wrong with hating him if he is gay, which is a Christian forte, or a woman who dares to speak or try to teach in church?
Do you tell your neighbor you love his wife and gay child?
Regards DL

You have a right to hate whoever you feel you need to.

"Loving your neighbors" is indeed "loving those who nearby you" or "the closest". Scriptures present the word "πλησίον" as translated to English "near", "neighbors". It doesn't necessarily mean for Homer Simpson to love Ned Flanders, just because he's a neighbor of him.

I don't think selfishness is defined by who we choose to associate with or even love. If I have an acquaintance who does things that might lead me to sin, or to break any holy vows I may have taken, I don't think it's selfish at all to cut off that relationship.

Perhaps, it's my fault that my English is so clumsy. I was saying exactly the same you did. But what is the more interesting, your answer opens some locks for me. Well, I guess our choice is important, but more often God shows us the way. What heretics used to call the fate, Christians usually call God's path. Some prime martyrs said they hadn't believed the fate, but in God's will (that there was God's will). So do I. Usually relationships have less real connections; chemical compounds have more solid relations, electrodynamics has more relations, and so on. People's promises or oaths are just words or spellings. God's will is the law.

If god did not create them as is, then nurture did it, and you are victim blaming. Despicable that. Regards DL
