I wonder if they were scared for some reason to cut it or burn it. But blasting that thing sent yucky blubber everywhere yuck. Was that really productive? It ruined a car and stuff....

Human imagination is powerful, but sometimes it can lead the mind astray. He thought that all that would be left of the whale after the explosion were pieces that would shortly be eaten by seagulls. Even if the explosion had been able to rips the whale into tiny pieces only, the amount of rotten whale flesh would still be the same, and way beyond what seagulls would have had the capacity to clean up.
