I guess I knew it intuitively. If you watch how Russian policemen look and in some other countries, then it become clear - police is an army against its own citizens. The govt (as the power) is afraid of its own citizens, and it's not a surprise.
My opinion on it, why such bad things as military disguising in the police - because the real democracy is going to elapse. Unsatisfiedness of leftists is alike gluttony.

In regards to the US right now, I see authoritarian tendencies from both the left and the right. The political debate has become so polarised, it's meaningless. People don't push arguments, they push narratives. The far left and the far right have one thing in common; They want people to replace careful analysis with simplistic slogans. Within every human being there is a truth seeker and a pack animal. And the pack animal is the truth seeker's greatest enemy. People who wish to think as individuals don't want to become part of an echo chamber.
An authoritarian police force can be used by the left against the right, as well as the opposite. This is similar to how the surveillance state that was initiated by George W. Bush, expanded by Obama, and later revealed by Edward Snowden, can be used to suppress both leftist and rightist movements. The biggest enemy right now is authoritarianism itself, irregardless of who's practicing it.

I subscribe to your words; my position on all of this was to become trying to diminish the leadership position. I mean the society we had in late 80-00's (except for some cases, and except for some regions, like Iraq or Belgrade) was much more adequate to the relationship. There were no primary leaders, yet there were plenty different personalities, public figures which tried to solve problems not on "losung", "loud shout", with noisy protests and meetings. The years were over quiet and calm. Leaderness in my opinion shares the authority-like views that dangerously hide all the things that might start equipping police, bying and producing weapons, etc. Also, it must be obvious that if there are people who group round a charismatic persona then this group is needed good therapist... So, such a group either bunch of fools, or completely brainwashed. Nonetheless, there are leaderless mobs. In Belarus now there are no leaders in opposition (as well as Russian displeased ones). This must be bad, but it's because of a leader in war or alike situation is like a lieutenant or a general, who is trusted to see battlefield'' flaws and pros. I mean the ordinary live doesn't need any leaders, any protests. Such situations transform the daily reality into nightmare. And it seema that there are persons who just thirsty for blood, and they want to fight whatever the conditions are... Authority situation as you described is what I can watch too in many regions almost over the world. The inspirers for such "movement" must be ashamed of their deeds. Humanity lives long enough to not be so dramatically stupid to set a war that brings nothing but unhappiness, sorrow, pain and death.
