The "console war" is a foundational aspect of modern console gaming. Xbox and Playstation, Microsoft and Sony, fighting it out for the wider market share of the casual Triple A markets. However... one of them, is playing to change the game... adding value like never before and totally redefining the concept of "generations" while the other... becomes comparatively stagnant.

I would probably always prefer PC, but between Xbox and Playstation, I'd choose Playstation. Partly because they offer physical copies of the game, partly because of exclusive titles like the last of us 1&2, and partly because I've come to dislike and distrust Microsoft.

I think Xbox may manage to win the so-called console war in the future but PlayStation won't lose its loyal fans (just like Nintendo). In my opinion, there is no real console war anymore.

When you state that there is no real console war anymore, do you mean that Xbox and PlayStation are appealing to different consumer groups, and are therefore complementary, rather than competing for the same market share? So Xbox wins over the brainless masses who prioritise convenience over everything else, while the conscious gamers prefer PlayStation?

karlDifferent consumer groups and different kinds/types of gamers; e.g. look at Nintendo and its IPs/franchises. It's obvious that many players just buy Nintendo consoles to play its franchises. My guess is Xbox's main concern is casual groups; the people and gamers who want a large library of games and they are ok with paying monthly/yearly (games as a service; using Netflix and other streaming websites model).
