The Complex Racial Identity of East Jackson Ohio

In the United States in years gone by there was a rule of racial identification in America with its origins in the South called the "one drop rule" in which one drop of black blood was enough to qualify you as black. The town of East Jackson Ohio was a town where black people and second class whites were segregated into. The mixed race descendants of these people look white and talk and act like white people from appalachia (East Jackson lies in the appalachian south of Ohio) however they identify as black people still following the one drop rule. It's pretty interesting.
