I don’t know enough about haplogroups to really comment. I don’t know what the perks and disadvantages are to each one.

They don't really matter much so... i'd pick I1 because it would mean my direct paternal lineage would be Nordic/Scandinavian and I've always been fascinated and in love with their culture and history. My current one is actually Gaelic so all in all i'm pretty cool with mine right now (I love Gaelic prechristian and early middle ages Ireland too as they had a fascinating civilization, culture, mythology, architecture, family and government structure etc as well.)

What is this haplogroup interesting to you? My answer would be the first paragraph of the wikipedia itself: Haplogroup A is a human Y-chromosome DNA haplogroup. Unlike other Y-DNA clades, it is not defined by a specific mutation. It is the foundational haplogroup to all known patrilineal lineages carried by modern humans, and thus is the Y-chromosomal Adam. So if given a chance, why not choose haplogroup which does not carry any mutation. Because mutations are good, they say.Mutations are among most important evolutionary devices-at least the beneficial, and adaptive ones. So,I guess that every dude wants the same haplothing-the one with the mutation that's gonna make you tall, strong, handsome and driving an awesome car.
