Individual. We will then make up the society together. The only way society comes first though is when you're born into a specific one. Like let's say your family has always been part of a secret society and your parents raised you in it. So you are not you're own individual fully then unless you were given a choice to be in it or not. If you escape it then you'll become your own individual. If that makes sense. But societies always start with an individual.

For me it was a task, because I thought that being an individual was possible to appear only within a society (a group of people who can differ one person for the other). Or maybe there must be some kind of gradation?.. You're opinion I like the most. Yeah, the idea that society must be built with the power of individuals (its spirit, its deeds, etc) is excellent. Because this idea (as 9x would say) hides another ideas inside it. The idea may be an inspiration for us, because one must try to become an individual to get some positively abilities to influence on society.

The word individual is suggestive of a "separated entity". if you accept this assumption, then the question is " from what is this entity separated? the answer should be " separated from a whole". This "whole" is the society. I believe society as an abstract concept came first, but physical society is made up of individuals.
