People who eat vegan and vegetarian diets have a lower risk of heart disease and a higher risk of stroke, a major study suggests. They had 10 fewer cases of heart disease and three more strokes per 1,000 people compared with the meat-eaters. The research, published in the British Medical Journal, looked at 48,000 people for up to 18 years. However, it cannot prove whether the effect is down to their diet or some other aspect of their lifestyle. Diet experts said, whatever people's dietary choice, eating a wide range of foods was best for their health.-- www.bbc.com/news/health-49579820-- www.bmj.com/content/366/bmj.l4897

Three more per thousand seems quite negligible, doesn't it? Perhaps this study needs to be repeated multiple times with the same sample size to say anything definitive. Moreover, no diet can entirely offset health risks, no? Thoughts?

Since we have this...
They should do some studies to figure this out. We don't know for a fact it's their diet.

I guess, entire indians are at a great risk.
May be, this was a conspiracy to eliminate the population from India

I had alot of success with a vegetarian protein diet...cannot speak high enough of it. As long as one gets there fats through supplements, I have no problem going vegetarian. I think the increase stroke risk is due to a lack of fats (such as omega 3 oils) more than the actual vegetables.
