I was quite astonished that the origins of this word are not recorded as being what I assumed they were through logical deconstruction.
The "overweening" personality is described "arrogant", yes, but I had always assumed the origin was due to the literal situation of the child simply being suckled for far too long. I took the term "ween" in what seemed a perfectly sensible etymology.
Thus the personality develops the traits of getting what it demands, being sexually fixated and egotistical as a result. Thus it suffers separation anxiety, and is prone to addiction with an oral fixation.
Anyone thoughts or research, welcome.
