So the gist here is that we can just have a bit of a mash-up about political
ideology in general terms. Try and not take it all too seriously, as the g-men
are not reading this with any great studious intent.
AmericanCharm...we were interrupted in another thread that was locked by the almighty
moderator in the sky for no real reason. You seemed to think that Islam was in
some way intrinsically different to Western whatever-they-are-calling-it-now-ism.
The only major difference is that they tend to suffer from more population pressure
in contemporary times, but that Europe in the 20th century was far worse
by a long shot when it comes to militant authoritarian dictatorship.
There has always been an oscillation between Islam and the
Western whatever-they-are-calling-it-now-ism. Both have strengths and weaknesses,
but in purely Darwinian terms, both have survived much the same.
The real difference being geographical where the west was able to conquer
America. Islam had actually reached Zimbabwe before westerners, so it was
a very sleight circumstance that gave the west this advantage. Imagine
how different the world would have looked if Islam had found Australia first?
I have lived in an Islamic community for the better part of a year here in
South Africa, and have found them to be so little different to westerners.
Perhaps, they are normally a bit more polite, but it takes all sorts.
