There is this challenge called the accent tag where a bunch of questions is asked and people make videos answering them. The questions are listed here and are based on college professors' dialect survey.
1. What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
2. What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
3. What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
4. What do you call gym shoes?
5. What do you say to address a group of people?
6. What do you call the kind of spider (or spider-like creature) that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
7. What do you call your grandparents?
8. What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
9. What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
10. What is the thing you change the TV channel with?
So basically for this thread, I ask you to list where you're from regionally (example, "Central California") and answer these questions. I will begin. The Answers to the questions numbers, of course, correspond to the numbers of the questions above.
Region: I am from the Midlands of the State of South Carolina in the American South.
1. TPing
2. Rolly Poly
3. A Coke
4. Tennis Shoes
5. Y'all
6. Grandaddy long legs
7. I called my grandmother on my mother's side Grandma and Popup, and my grandparents on my father's side granny and granddaddy. Plus the new guy who married my father's mother after grandaddy died is just called by his first name. My mother's side grandparents are from Pennsylvania while my father's side grandparents are from South Carolina possibly explaining the difference.
8. A Buggy
9. The older generation says that this is the devil beating his wife. The younger generation doesn't seem to have a term for this.
10. Remote control or just "the remote" for short.

I find that a lot of the variances in this test often revolve around what to call the rolling bug.
