Just as cute pair unknown and Eodnhoj7 share a thread to discuss philosophy together, so Dk and I plan to share our own discussion too. Please refrain from comments here. You can make your own threads based off stuff here for your own separate discussions.

Perhaps we should start with the most important Biblical doctrines first, like who Jesus Christ is, His death, burial, and resurrection, what salvation and baptism is, the Holy Trinity, Biblical authority, prayer, the church, etc. Or maybe we can start off with what is not Christian according to the Bible, such as false doctrines and beliefs.. Or do a mixture of both? Works for me either way we go

I'm going to go one by one on some stuff. Shrug God is a creator. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1
We know that everything in existence was created by God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:3
Our own parents can't technically create. God says when were are born. He decides our birthday. He just uses our parents to bring us here. Before I formed you in the womb I knew you...Jeremiah 1:5
Parents can't form us in the womb. God decides when we come into existence by creating and forming us. Agree or disagree? DKTrav88

Though I would say God is the creator, not a creator. To say a creator would mean there is more than one, but all things were made by Him and only Him, so He is the one and only Creator. Some would maybe argue that man creates cars or computers or other things, but they forget or don’t realize that God creatwd all the elements required to make cars, computers, etc., so not even those things are created by man, they are constructed and not created. Some might even argue that man creates art and music which requires an imagination, but God created our minds from which our imagination comes from. What do you think?

It also reminds me of the joke below There’s a scientist and God. And the scientist challenges God to a contest of who can make the better human being. God tells him that he’s on, at which time the scientist, in great delight, bends over to pick up some dust to make his human being. Then God says, ‘No, no … you go and find your own dust.’

In fact, every time the word 'create' or 'created' is used in the Bible, it is in reference to God saying He created something or someone, when someone else is saying God created something or someone, or when someone or God is saying He will create something or someone.

Okay, so we've established so far that God is the Creator. Here are more of His characteristics. God is also eternal.Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. God is unchanging.Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. God is Omnipresent.Psalm 139:7-12 7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. God is omniscient.Psalm 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. Isaiah 40:28-31 28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. God is just.Isaiah 61:8 For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery for burnt offering; I will direct their work in truth, and will make with them an everlasting covenant. Isaiah 30:18 Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him. Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He. Psalm 89:14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face. God's judgments are righteous and true.Psalm 19:9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. Revelation 16:7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments. Revelation 19:2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. His mercy is everlasting, He is full of compassion, and He is gracious.Psalm 100:5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Psalm 86:5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. Psalm 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. Romans 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. If there's anything else you'd like to add, feel free

It says God is immortal, invisible, and wise. 1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. Now I want to have a discussion on this verse. So immortal definition is this... living forever; never dying or decaying. And some people claim Jesus/God wasn't immortal because of the cross sacrifice I say this is false. God actually never died as in disappear from existence after His last breath on the cross. His death only meant He died or left His earthly body which technically isn't even His real form. It was a simple transition from leaving the physical body to go to His eternal spiritual body which He always had. That verse also mentions that He's an invisible God. Definition is... unable to be seen; not visible to the eye.So that means He's not seen by the naked eye because He's invisible like air which is why God is an invisible spirit and not like us humans. John 4:24 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” So God is invisible because He's a Spirit. However, just like angels who are spirits they took the appearance of a man to speak with us as did God by Jesus. But God isn't a human in His real form. But only during His earthly mission to speak with us just as angels were human during their earthly mission to speak to us. And the whole reason God uses this human mask is so we don't die. Exodus 33:20 But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.” And of course lastly it mentions that God is wise. But since He's the creator of everything then He's wise enough to know everything. Any disagreements?

The Bible says Christ gave/yielded up the ghost, ghost meaning His spirit; Matthew 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. Mark 15:37-39 37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. 38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. 39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God. Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. The Bible says there is a spiritual body and a natural body; 1 Corinthians 15:44-47 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven. The natural body cannot inherit the kingdom of God, it is the spiritual body that does; 1 Corinthians 15:48-50 48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. And so just as our natural bodies, flesh and blood, cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither did Christ's natural body enter into heaven. His spiritual body did. And yes, He did always have a spiritual body. He was there from the beginning; John 1:1-2,14 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Yes, He is invisible. No man has ever seen Him in His true form, in all His glory and fullness; John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. And yes, He is wise. Proverbs 21:30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord. Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! 1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 1 Corinthians 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. Jude 1:25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Revelation 7:12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. So seems all the Godhead parts reunited again after He was done on Earth. And God is present everywhere always too so He was everywhere in spirit form. Then when needing to speak to people again He appeared in human form again. It's recorded in scripture that He appeared and disagreed before them. He was no longer there to live as a human after the cross. So He played God's role then in His real spirit form as He's done for almost ever. He was casting away His temporary human mask to become invisible once again after the cross. Or other comments?

Amen. And on the cross He even said that He was going back to His Father in spirit form and then did. Yes, I agree I would just like to share verses that support God's omnipresence; 1 Kings 8:27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded? Psalm 11:4 The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. Psalm 139:7-10 7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Job 34:21 For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. Isaiah 66:1 Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? Jeremiah 23:23-24 23 Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off? 24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord. Colossians 1:15-17 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Ok so we established that God is a Spirit and God also makes this clear in the beginning of Genesis. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis 1:2 So that means the Godhead(Trinity) is a Spirit of 3 parts: Father, Son(Word), and Holy Spirit. And bible makes it clear these 3 parts are part of 1 whole. So..3/3=1 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And God actually does refer to Himself in plural form. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26 Comments? DKTrav88 Yes, the Trinity is made apparent all throughout the Bible, starting with the verse you quoted from Genesis 1 and into Genesis 3 where He also refers to Himself in plural form; Genesis 3:22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: God refers to Himself in plural form again in Isaiah 6; Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. There is a Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost(Spirit); Matthew 28:19-20 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Jesus Christ is the Son of God; 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. And is the Son of the Father who is God; 2 John 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. Jesus Christ is the Word and the Word is God, as verified in John 1; John 1:1-2,14 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. And to further verify we know Jesus is God and has been there since the beginning, John 8 says; John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. ...which correlates with this verse in Exodus 3; Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you. And the Holy Ghost(Spirit) of course, which comes from the Father in heaven, but sent in Jesus's name and by Jesus, is also God; John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 1 Corinthians 2:10-11 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Anything to add?

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Anything to add? Yes, this very first verse you quoted reminded me of something. Genesis 3:22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: God said we (humans) became like Him (like God). Now by this He didn't mean like Him as in His image but like Him by having the knowledge of good and evil since humanity sinned right before. They were limited to knowing only good but with sin they had more knowledge and God is full of knowledge so we became more like Him in knowledge only but not in His image being corrupted in sin. This is evident here when Jesus reminds them that they became like gods by knowing good from evil. He didn't actually mean we are literally gods but having knowlege of good and evil like God has. John 10:33-38 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. In the verses above the Jews tried to make Him look like He was doing evil by saying He was the Son of God. So Jesus reminded them that as being gods (meaning like God not God Himself) with the good and evil knowledge they should be able to discern if He's doing good or evil. But He was saying they weren't looking at His works which were from the Father and were good works not evil. So He reminded them to look and see and believe in Him. Yea or nay?
