Which languages do you like to listen to? Could be one you speak or one you don't understand.

The languages have a certain air about them. That is why Tolkien based his Elven language of Middle Earth on Finnish, I think.

I haven't actually spent too much time just listening to a wide variety of languages, though I think that's a good idea and I'd like to listen just for the sake of listening more!
Most people seem to prefer the sounds of Romance languages over Germanic ones, but I honestly *love* the sound of German. I think it sounds very much like rich creamy chocolate cake. :3

Japanese and Polish (Polish cause I lived there for a bit). I used to like English before learning it but now it feels normal to listen to.

Italian, but in spite of speaking French, I really don't understand most of it, which is no surprise since French has diverged greatly from Latin, unlike Italian and Spanish. I think that spoken French and spoken Italian are farther apart than Italian and Spanish, but if you read those two languages, then you will find that they are lexically as close.

I agree with you.

I'm impressed that Finnish has been mentioned so many times! I'll mention it again! Also French, Spanish, Italian. And a language that isn't so much heard as seen! ASL (American sign language). I love watching people sign. I'm working on learning it myself now. I also have a Spanish book in front of me I'm about to be working on learning from.
