This is the tenth amendment of the United States Constitution. "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."Nowhere in the constitution does it prohibit a state or the peoples' right to secede from the government. The tenth amendment says that all powers not given to the federal government by the constitution, and that all powers that the constitution does not prohibit to the states will be delegated to the states, or to the people. This means that since the constitution does not in any part of the document prohibit secession from the Union by the states or the people, that power is necessarily delegated to the states or the people and a state or the people have the legal right to secede from the Union. Seeing this as someone from the South angers me greatly and has made a southern secessionist out of me for a few reasons. First of all the Yankees invaded the South and forced it back in the Union illegally killing hundreds of thousands of southerners under false pretenses (Lincoln refused President Jefferson Davis's attempts at peace) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederate_States_peace_commission and then using the dictatorial power of the supreme court (the same court that forced abortion and gay marriage on all of the states even though it is nowhere found in the constitution) declared secession illegal after the war. In fact the entire tenth amendment where the states are supposed to have the powers not given to the federal government is being completely ignored as the government is now a centralized nightmarish behemoth that will let no one leave. |

I should have worded what I said differently. It was more about states right than it was slavery. Slavery was an aspect of states rights. |

Welp, I guess i'm glad for living in the UK  I’d say the UK has more control over its populace than the US does Very true. There's no free speech in Britain for example. But I must say the people of Britain are freer in one important respect. They let people leave. If Scotland voted yes for independence in their referendum, I doubt England would send in the army to bring them back in. Or if Northern Ireland voted to leave the UK and join the Republic I think that Britain would let them. |

I should find that online source again...but I'm against these new denominations since they're only drifting more from the core of Christianity. facepalm |
