Wow interesting story. I never heard of it. A lot of it seems fictional and she was a child so her story wouldn't be the best or very logical. It seems to me that she was part of a tribe somewhere and they were not healthy. Skin discoloration happens because of illnesses and not good eating habits. She only ate one thing it was mentioned. He brother died off soon after and so seems the rest of the tribe people did too. She began eating food that others ate and didn't die. She had a recovery basically because she was looked after and fed properly. Butttt they didn't find record of the man who supposedly married her so could all be a fake story still. Shrug

I told this story to some of my students and they're like, "How come we aren't taught about them? That was actually am interesting story. Instead we're taught boring stuff in history." I couldn't agree more with them! I always thought history was boring so never learned anything in that class. :/
