This is probably the most famous quote in the United States of America from the Declaration of Independence.

This is probably the most famous quote in the United States of America from the Declaration of Independence. He is the one who initiated me towards deism . All founding fathers of US were deist with the exception of one . So Clover if u appreciate this quotation so much , never got drawn towards deism ?

I never got drawn to deism because I know from experience that God is involved with his creation. That he did not just create it like a clock and watch it tick. If God were not involved in the world then we would not be endowed with anything much less inalienable rights such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I never got drawn to deism because I know from experience that God is involved with his creation. That he did not just create it like a clock and watch it tick. If God were not involved in the world then we would not be endowed with anything much less inalienable rights such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. God grants life. it's a man's pursuits and its a man's strive towards liberty . in a way u are questioning the intellect of the people who gave u this land . Let that sink in I'm not questioning their intellect but I am disagreeing with them. When you start talking about human beings having natural rights which no government or person has the right to infringe upon you get into the realm of morality. If God is not involved in the world and there are no rewards or punishments or eternal consequences to ones actions then what is the basis for a man's rights? A man could use his life to strive towards liberty and he could use it for the pursuit of happiness. But then a tyrants pursuit of happiness could be to rob a man of his liberty and to infringe on the happiness of others. Life can lead to many things and they don't always nor do they often lead to the rights of liberty and the pursuit of happiness for the common man. If God has no involvement in the affairs of humanity and just created the earth and watched it develop for millions of years than life is just about the only thing that he has endowed mankind with. To endow humanity with worth, to endow him with certain rights that no one is allowed to take away God has to be involved with mankind in the first place and there necessarily has to be consequences to the taking of those rights for it to have any meaning or else that proclamation is hollow. And to explain further, the idea that God has given humanity and humanity alone inalienable rights such as these would seem strange if one were to look at nature. No other animal has these rights. The Gazelle doesn't have the right to life and liberty when the lion feasts upon it. Pigs, cows, chickens, and any other animal we eat are not given these same rights by us. Men travel to Africa to hunt the big five killing elephants, lions, and other animals with abandon. Nature is one big dog eat dog struggle with each animal trying to out compete the other and the loser's lot is death. It is survival of the fittest. I'd assume you believe in evolution? Well if God was not involved with the events of the world that would mean that humanity is one big accident of nature just like every other animal. God did not guide evolution (because he is not involved in the world) and just let it continue in which ever way it was to go which means we are just like every other animal and our existence is just another unlikely series of events not planned by anyone. In this scenario God did not even directly give us life and intelligence or at least he certainly didn't plan to, so we are just like every other animal. Why do we have inalienable rights and the other animals do not? They were given life too and it means nothing to us or anyone else. In my view I have inalienable rights and am endowed with them because I am created in the image of God and God loves me and knows every hair on my head. As for the founding fathers; I do not question their intellect at all. They were very intelligent people. But the thing is about their philosophy the Enlightenment is that they came to very good ideas about how to run a government but many of the conclusions they came to about the world are provably false. The blank slate theory is provably false, the Lockean conception of the state is provably false, and the idea that one is endowed by rights by a God who doesn't care one way or another is just wrong.
