I can play beethoven on piano but the only concert I've been to is a Christian concert by the band Everfound. And only reason I went was because they did it at my church and it was free. So was like I'm bored so why not? Shrug

I’ve been to an opera, it was terrible. I wander why you found it terrible. Was it in a language you did not understand? My initiation into opera was, many years ago, on American television, when they used to have weekly transmissions of operas. As I knew Italian, I had no difficulty following it, but when I listen to opera on CD, I prefer following it why reading the libretto, especially if some singer's diction is not very clear. An advance preparation and "following by reading" is a necessity, if I don't know the opera's language [if the music is so good that all the efforts are worthy the trouble]. If, language aside, you found the music terrible, you must have been railroaded to some non-Italian opera which displays vocal or symphonic fireworks but no beauty. Don't tell me you attended Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" or "L'Elisir d'Amore", Verdi's "Il Trovatore" or "La Traviata" or "Macbeth", or Pergolesi's "Lo frate Nnamonato" [in Neapolitan"], or... I omit the listing of 100 other highly melodic works. (Try highlights of arias by the likes of Pavarotti, Cecilia Bartoli...….

It just wasn’t my type of music, it was an uncomfortable environment and I hated the sound.

I have seen opera on tv but never enjoyed that singing which is probably the same thing that AmericanCharm was saying?

I’ve been to an opera, it was terrible. That happens when you go to an opera before inctroducing yourself first to classical music

Yes, I've been to theater, to opera and to philharmonic hall. I was at some spectacles at the theater, at the opera I was at "Juno and Avos", and at philharmonic hall I was at some jazz concerts (sax, drums, etc).
I like to visit any theater drama and opera, but theater seems me more likely. My dream is to go on spectacles "Macbeth", and Gete's "Faust".

I went to an orchestra and that was dreadful as well. I’m a rock/metal guy. I can still appreciate the talent of them though.
