This is a quote I found online that an agnostic said. What do you think of his reasoning?
"I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time."
Personally, I think he doesn't believe in physical things that exist before his eyes too then. If any of you are familiar with little kids, especially toddlers, all they want to do is be praised. That's why you see parents say, "Yay! You did it!" And the kid beams in happiness because loves hearing this praise all the time. So it's like that sentence the agnostic said would mean he doesn't believe in living humans being too which seek praise all the time. Definitely, wouldn't send my little nephews over to him. He won't think they're real and they could die. Shrug

Agnostics seem a little more peaceful though but some religions can be super hateful and even kill people

I agree with that agnostic. PS. Religions don't kill people. Well, I didn't mean like a religion but some people in religions. Like the crusades killed a ton of people :(

I agree with what my fellow agnostic said but I’d take it further say I also can’t praise a god who believes sinners and non believers are going suffer in hell for all eternity. We are talking even misdemeanor sins like self pleasuring, lusting, homo sexuality, non believing, lying, stealing, if you haven't repented shall suffer for all eternity in hell. I don’t see how people can back or love this "God". To me he is one of most evil beings I've ever heard of, giving people free will only to genocide them with a great flood because he didn’t like the way people were acting? Not to mention as far as I can tell Christianity is mild compared to Islam and even Judaism. A god fine with 99% of people who have ever walked the earth suffering for all eternity? We are talking billions upon billions. Even if god could be proved to me I wouldn’t worship him. A real hardcore Christian friend of mine stated that only 144,000 people will go to heaven. Christians here will have to confirm or deny this for me as I have found mixed answers. He also urged that we need to be born again. While I have no interest in living a Christian lifestyle.

He believes the Earth is flat, dinosaurs aren’t real, stars are trapped demons or something like that, humans can live to 1000, he believes in giant nephilim, all sorts of stuff. He is an extreme, radical, Christian is the best I can describe.

Actually, I can agree with that statement, if god is supposed to be perfect, and we see people who want nothing but praise as flawed, wouldn't that mean god is also flawed? Aside from that, yeah I think it's hypocritical for a god to give us free will, and then try and impose laws on how we can behave. If he truly hated sin, why wouldn't he just make it impossible TO sin? He hates lust, why make us ABLE to lust? He doesn't like adultery, why not make even thinking of adultery possible? He is either not all powerful, or he doesn't really mind people committing sin.

Actually, I can agree with that statement, if god is supposed to be perfect, and we see people who want nothing but praise as flawed, wouldn't that mean god is also flawed? The reason that people want praise is to feed their ego. But the reason to praise God isn't for God's ego because God doesn't have an ego. The reason is to reduce our own ego. So this practice is for our benefit. God does not impose laws on us (other than the laws of science). We have free will and scriptures are guidebooks for how to live optimally in this world. If we choose not to follow scripture, then we simply suffer the consequences of a suboptimal society.

Like watering trees and plants so they can grow and benefit the world?

Which laws of science do you mean? Like watering trees and plants so they can grow and benefit the world? I mean laws like the law of gravity which says that you can't jump out the window without falling down.

"Which laws of science do you mean? Like watering trees and plants so they can grow and benefit the world?" I wouldn't exactly say those are laws of science...
"God does not impose laws on us (other than the laws of science). We have free will and scriptures are guidebooks for how to live optimally in this world. If we choose not to follow scripture, then we simply suffer the consequences of a suboptimal society." That doesn't answer the WHY though, it's clear he doesn't impose hard laws on us, but WHY wouldn't he? If his way is best, wouldn't it be best TO do so? On top of that, what is optimal? It's all perspective really, not only that, but how does something like adultery actually make society sub-optimal? if all parties involved are consenting, so what?
