Some of the other things Darwin said about women,
". . . constant companion, (friend in old age) who will feel interested in one, object to be beloved and played with—better than a dog anyhow—Home, and someone to take care of house . . ." (Darwin, 1958:232,233).
"reasoned that males are more evolutionarily advanced than females" (Kevles, 1986:8).
"women's brains were analogous to those of animals," which had "overdeveloped" sense organs "to the detriment of the brain" (Fee, 1979:418).
"unchecked female militancy threatened to produce a perturbance of the races" and to "divert the orderly process of evolution" (Fee, 1979:415).
...and a lot more on top of these... Seems like Darwinism and sexism/racism go hand in hand.

I think he was just conceited and thought way too highly of himself. And I think God proved him retarted on his inbreeding belief of superior stock. So he failed as a scientist I'd say. Shrug

I would point out that even if Darwin was these things(and I can't really confirm or deny on meme quotes alone) that really doesn't change what the theory of Evolution was or has become. The idea rose above the man.Its why I always find it odd those who are dismissive of Evolution call it Darwinian Evolution. We don't call Newtons Laws the Newtonian Laws or Einstien's theories the Einstienian Theory.

They're not necessarily meme quotes but quotes in the books he wrote. The page numbers are written as well and I think some of which can be found online like an ebook or pdf maybe. But evolution is one thing yeah but dktrav88 was focusing here just on how he viewed others Shrug

Yea they aren’t memes, they have the citations from where they were taken. And the topic isn’t evolution or any theory Darwin made, this topic is about what he thought of women and other races shrug

dktrav88 Have you actually taken the time to look up and verify those sources or are you just listing attributed quotes from some website? Anyone can attribute a quote to a book (or person) and add in random page numbers. There's a number of fake Churchill ("we butchered the wrong pig") and Hitler (i.e. gun confiscation, Armenian genocide) quotes in circulation. If you really want to prove your point, collect a bunch of pdfs or screencap excerpts from google books previews and link them. Here's a site which refutes a lot of myths surrounding the man: timpanogos.wordpress.com/2013/02/12/especially-on-his-birthday-dont-call-darwin-racist-he-wasnt/I prefer Herbert Spencer and Ernst Haeckel to Darwin, but good god man, cut the man some slack. In his last days, he even regretted not devoting enough of his time to poetry. It's surely no coincidence that even purely scientific men concern themselves with religious matters in their old age.
