Verses just mean to love God and put Him first. Put your dedicated to God first and to family second and He will bless you. Since Jesus said greatest commandment is to love God first and loving others is second. Ok. Three moments: 1. So, it's possible to follow Christ being married (I think you're agree here without any doubts); 2. Family is the traditional thing (there are many types of families: in OT we read about polygamy many times; in NT there are rather monogamy. Also, some traditional values like rituals, celebrations, important dates belong to the family's traditions); 3. To follow Christ having traditions is appropriate in NT (it leads from 1 and 2).

DKTrav88 - No way, I'm not going to. All what I wanted to say that if OT served us for testifying Christ, then it appealed to OT as the source of many other thing we had to do. I think it can't be: using of OT for arguing about Christ, and denying its regulations at the same. OT is the source of regulations too. In Apostolic Council at Jerusalem in about 51 year A.C. the Apostles claimed that circumcision is allowed for Jews, but not necessary for aliens. Using the same logic we can say that some of things are appropriate from OT, and some of them are not. For example, there are many good thoughts in Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Psalms, so we can aim the words from it to do something. And this is the reason why the marriage is depending not only on NT, but on OT too. NT can't solve the problem with marriage on cousins, but OT can. You don’t understand what you’re talking about. I’ll say it one more time; the covenants in the OT are done away with in Christ. A new covenant has been established in Christ in the NT, therefore we do not observed the old covenants. Show me a commandment from God that demands we have more than one wife, please. I'm tired of you. Visit some Orthodox churches and boil brains of local priests. I'm not interested to talk within Scriptures only, I try to talk wider than it. If you know places in Bible that claims from itself like "the right version of Bible must contain 14 books of Paul... ...4 Gospels and Apocalypses", then do study it by yourself.

Psalm 12:6-7 KJV [6] The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. [7] Thou shalt keep them, O Lord , thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Well, Solomon was an idiot and that's why God took away almost everything from him. But old testament is also a history book. So it will mention righteous people and sinners and what they did. But new testaments mentions both types too to let us know how to live and not to live. Shrug If you want a real righteous person from the bible who God was proud of to use it would be Joseph from his big family.

Personally I mean Shlomo as the one most featured mind, the cool lover, and very talented ruler. Maybe he was an idiot, but Sheba Queen didn't think so. She was crazed to core being fell in love to him. I think that Shlomo was a real macho, like him:

Yes, he was a wise man but he was not always wise. He went dumb. What do you want, he messed with many girls!! Some weird statue praying ones too and stuff. I think he lost his mind honestly. He also wanted to kill people when God pushed him aside and removed the kingdom from him from his bad deeds.

Love is narcotic. He was poisoned by God. God gave him all that he wanted, and God was not careful by doing it. It sounds like - Solomon is bad while God is good. No way! God is bad, and Solomon is tender sweety! And this is not the first fail of God. He gave freedom to Adam, then He allowed their people being killed by Pharaoh, many times let His people to be under invasion... And finally He sent a savior, which was crucified. If God knew all these, then why on earth He did it! For toying&playing videogames, like a school-boy?! I really don't understand. So, God is more worse person than Shlomo.

So Adam got kicked out of Eden for his wrongdoing, Egyptians were slaves for their wrong doing, etc. Or since you're not Christian then think Karma! XD

However, I can't stand why to kill for wrongdoing? Anyone who struggles God - is dead to bone. But why? Why then to name someone idiot, because he turned form God to a god? God killed people many times; He destroyed towns, He killed children... I see Shlomo as more respectful, straightminded, honest, brave, beautiful, talented person... Compare him to Jesus. Jesus was respectful for His deeds, for His attention to everyone, for His miracles, and His words. Many loved Jesus in/at His time. Jesus gave Gospels, while Solomon built Jerusalem Shrine. If such talented person as Shlomo was abandoned by God for tiny fault, why 'Penitent thief' was saved??! Where's logic?!
