What parts of the Bible do you find most interesting? It does not matter whether you are a Christian or not ... But many of us have read and know the Bible story!

Old Testament. I find that particular part a wonderful example of human imagination Which part? Or I shouldn't ask? Its been a lot since I've read Old Testament but part about horns of Jericho, Moses moving the sea, Samson and his hair, and other similar stories. So you know, just the parts that could be described as science-fiction

Genesis 6:1-4, When people began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that they were fair; and they took wives for themselves of all that they chose. Then the Lord said, “My spirit shall not abide in mortals forever, for they are flesh; their days shall be one hundred twenty years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went in to the daughters of humans, who bore children to them. These were the heroes that were of old, warriors of renown.
It just kind of throws that out of nowhere and moves on. But this is extremely interesting angels and humans having offspring which some translations say are giants that were the heroes of the ancient world. I wish the Bible went into more detail regarding this.

Because that's what the Jews understood them to be and because what else creates superhumans when they produce offspring with humans? Read the book of Enoch to see how the Jews understood it.

I wish the Bible went into more detail regarding this. A minor correction: ... "The Nephilim... , when the sons of the ELOHIM (Gods)..." It s not clear whether the reference is to the Elohim of Genesis-1 (who created Man on their own image: one male and one female) or to pagan gods, whom the Bible recognizes in many places: the Philistinian and other gods of the Middle East.// The chapters of the Book of Genesis are most interesting to me as an ethnologist, since they display the beliefs and uncritical thinking of late Neolithic people. The two accounts of Creation posit the two Aramaic supreme gods (the Elohim) and the one Hebrew God (Yahweh), who is actually an Indo-European god. 2 and 1 are contradictory concepts, which, therefore, cannot be truthful.

Read the book of Enoch to see how the Jews understood it. In the New Testament, sons of God are believers in Christ, not angels. How do you account for this? Also, the book of Enoch is not a part of biblical canon, so why is it considered an authority document to you?

Because that's what the Jews understood them to be and because what else creates superhumans when they produce offspring with humans? Read the book of Enoch to see how the Jews understood it. In the New Testament, sons of God are believers in Christ, not angels. How do you account for this? Also, the book of Enoch is not a part of biblical canon, so why is it considered an authority document to you? Do believers in Christ produce giant offspring that become the legendary heroes of old when they mate with normal people? And you misunderstand what I mean when I talk about the book of Enoch. The book of Enoch is not authoritative, it is not God breathed, but it illustrates perfectly what the Jews believed about the verses in question and the Nephilim and who the Sons of God were. The Jews knew them to be angels. Jesus had not come yet in the old testament so saying that the sons of God as mentioned in this verse are the same as in the New Testament makes no sense and again followers of Jesus do not have superhuman giant offspring when they mate with nonbelievers. What this verse meant was quite obvious to the Jews it was written to and they understood the sons of God or the "sons of the Elohim" quite clearly to be angels. It should also be stated that the meaning of the Hebrew world Nephilim has been debated but the conflicting ideas of what it means are very telling. On one side some scholars think it simply means giant. Others think it means fallen ones. So either they're giants (which are how the Jews thought of them) or they are fallen ones, the sons of fallen angels. Either way this doesn't jive with "followers of Jesus" at all.
