Why is it named Sudan if you know? What other common ethnicities live there? It must have been called by Arab immigrants. The word "Sudan" in arabic means "The blacks".

Is there a connection between Sudan and Egypt? Or Ancient Egypt! Actually the Nubian civilization started in Sudan and then moved north to where Egypt is. The Nubian Pyramids and remains are many times greater than those in Egypt. In the past it was just called the civilization of the Nile Vally that was before the emergence of the new political borders

Hmm For some who came from the Arab Peninsula through Egypt, the Sudanese must have looked very black. They might not have seen anyone as black before. Also the Sudanese Land was inhabited the very black Africans in the south and the Nubians in the North. So part of the Sudan at that time was very black

Modern Sudan is the heir of Egypt or more Arabs? Modern Sudan and modern Egypt are both Arab countries in that the dominant population in both countries are the Arabs. Historically they were both colonized by the Turks and then by British

The present demographic relationship between Sudan and Egypt is that the northern part of Sudan and the southern part of Egypt are occupied by the Nubians, who are non-Arabs.

What's the latest with South Sudan? What do people in the north think of its separation?

What's the latest with South Sudan? What do people in the north think of its separation? Sorry to tell you that they are still fighting among themselves. The struggle there is more of a tribal than a political nature, and the spread of famines together with the feeling of insecurity brought a lot of them back to Sudan. The separation between the south and the north of Sudan started actually since the British colonization when the British drew a line between the north and the south and started treating the south differently on the ground of its African, Christian identity. since then the southerners have always demanded that they split and form their own nation. of course the majority of the Sudanese in the north and also in the south do not like this separation and see both sides are losers. Some hope that the two countries will unite again

Is it warm in Sudan now? Is it always warm in Sudan? December and January are usually cold. The rest of the year is warm except during the rainy season from July to October during which the weather fluctuates between warm and cool depending on the rains. Because the climate is generally warm they consider the weather to be cold if it is 20 degrees c.

Or what meals are national food (dishes, meals)? For instance, in Ukraine it is borscht, vareniky (sometimes called 'dumplings') with meat or potato etc, and pies as cherry pies, etc.
