Philosophy is a way of thinking, a mind set. I think perhaps because I am non religious and I am a non believer, philosophy stands to be quite important to me. The philosophies that I gravitate to are stabilizing for me, and in a way serve as a unique moral compass.

I think philosophy is a tool to use when needed but as a pastime its' usefulness is overrated, or well it depends how you define philosophy. I feel like most people who claim to "be into philosophy" usually just like mental masturbation for the sake of feeling like an intellectual, which is ironic. Science is mostly a more effective tool now. But again it depends on how broad the definition of philosophy is.

Those who use the philosophical framework with intellect are philosophers, and those who fill the philosophical framework with futile content are pseudo philosophers.

Good question without any doubt!
The books. Hard, very hard texts to read. The texts which hardness bases not by gibberish but on a matter of discussion. The problems. Hard cases, not easy to solve. You're thinking, thinking and thinking again and again. You're discussing about it. Many, many, many and many times, spending much and much more time. The insane. Any sane man would dealt with it...

I noticed a lot of philosophy here! So, I have a question for - What is Philosophy for you?-The beginning of philosophy is the questioning of some belief or of something that has been said or claimed. Then philosophy is enacted by reflecting upon, investigating, analyzing, and criticizing the "thesis" [what is believed, opined, thought, said, or claimed]. In the process, or afterwards, the philosopher may also turn his attention to and investigate the language (the speaking) in which a thesis is expressed. For instance, if he deals with "motion", he deals with the linguistically expressed concept of motion, whereas a scientist deals with moving things. If he deals with "growth" (which was already present in Anaximander's language, "physis"), he will present his investigative work in a book, "Peri Physeos", which was then translated as "De Natura", from which we have the word "Nature". A scientist [or Naturalist, in this case] investigates growing things on location and in laboratories. In all cases, a scientist can investigate only perceptible things, wherefore, such things as Existence, Beauty, Morals, Rightness, the (self-reflecting) human person, etc., are beyond his purview. for me philosophy is "applied curiosity? within the framework of thoughts philosophy was the original subject from which all the other subjects sprang forth when ti came to specialization of information production. so i think the question should be what isn't philosophy? what is the one thing that doesnt have any underlying philosophical framework?

Other for me, because, philosophy is thinking, and sometimes, it gets into the extreme of utopian and idealism, however, real world is practical, and lot of compromises have to be done.
