I recall a Native American myth regarding the reason behind death. I can't find it again, but it went something like this: Coyote and Crow were debating whether things should die, along with other animals. Coyote said there should be no death, but Crow said things should die. Coyote was outvoted by Crow, but the first thing to die was Crow's child. Crow begged Coyote to undo it but Coyote said, ' too bad should've thought about that beforehand...' :^)

There would be no life without death, light and darkness inevitably coincide in this world, so does with life and death. The word "life" exists because there's "death" and life and death is the equilibrium of reality and the proof of our existence. When we die it doesn't mean that we just vanished in our empirical reality, we will exist in the form of history and abstract imagination. Every man has their own histories and only those who are extraordinary are worthy to be distinguished and be recognized exclusively his/her name in history.

you should not ask why we die before you answer why we are born

LakupalaWhy quitting? Let quit to someone else who doesn't deserve to live, eh?
If you can evaluate your own existence limit, than you can evaluate the others'. Else, you can't evaluate yours. You can do it either evaluating the other's, or not evaluating yours.
If your decided to evaluate your existence limit regardless of the other's, why then to end yours? There's no point to end it basing it just on your decision. It makes no sense at all. For quitting there must be solid reasons.

From the point of view of Christianity, death came to this world with sin! But from the point of view of materialism everything in our world has its time decaying, including the human organism! Inadvertently, you have just brought forth the basis for the refutation of Christianity: [1] The Christian religion follows the Biblical belief that death is the wages of sin, and that all humans inherit Adam's (original) sin. (Actually a sin or a crime cannot be inherited by the offsprings, but this is another story.) [2] St. Paul's doctrine: Christ suffered death in order to atone for the sins of the world. (So,Churches chant: O lamb of God who takes away the sins of the word, have mercy on us.) [3] But, all Christians have been dying in the last two thousand years: As they kept on receiving the wages of sin, their sin was not removed by Christ; they were not saved. It is a lie that Christ is the Redeemer. // He was also a false prophet, for he had predicted that the end of the world would come before the end of his generation.

if there were no death, we wouldn't think that we are living. we would take life for granted and in that way it would be silly. also I understand that death is just another stage of our existence. I am a strict believer in life after death!!! Why would we not think we were living?

Can't? No suicide please! Hmm Why not? Did you say, "Why not?"? Because death will come sooner than you think. So, it's a matter of being patient for a while.
