More white men are likely to commit suicide than any other group. How is that so? I'd assume it would at least be women since women tend to me more emotional and less understood. Your opinions? afsp.org/about-suicide/suicide-statistics/

I cannot speak on racial, ethnic, cultural differences but it is documented that more males than females commit suicide across the world. This gender divide in suicide statistics has been recorded in certain SouthEast Asian nations also. My immediate and simplified explanation for this is that men and women deal with stress and life issues in different methods. The woman will often relieve stress by crying or confiding in close family or friends as they often have support network infrastructure. The man is taught to be strong and to not shed tears, shun emotion and may not feel so comfortable talking about their emotions as this is perceived to be one sign of weakness. Men also have strong propensity to seek what they see as solutions and not comfort or support. If the man feels helpless and can find no solutions in sight, they are put into bad and complex situation. This can sometimes send men over the edge which in some men results in suicide as solution.
Other thoughts are that men show proclivity to be more decisive and final when they choose paths. If the man decides he is to take his own life, he is more likely to plot absolute and solid lethal methods to do so which leads to male attempts to be more successful. While studies I have viewed reveal the methods often used by women are less absolute and lethal, often overdose attempts that result in temporary effects but not death.
Just some thoughts.

Men need to not hold things in and know it is ok to cry too! They're no God, they can't do everything so they can talk about it openly. Talking about their feelings and whatnot will help and they're more likely to get support.

The entire history of humankind survival set us up against such approach. It's in our biology and no force could change at will.
