Nice article, thanks for sharing. I don't really get the 4th point. Atheist who believe in any deity is not an atheist. 3% of American atheists pray then?

I think atheism in the US is more a respons, instead of a path that someone walked to.
If they get some reaction because of religion, then they got emotional responces, and these emotional responses, are not racional.

One of the things I find fascinating is that people are thoroughly convinced that their religion is the correct one. Just because they were born into it, their family is in it, its the predominate way of thinking in their community etc. I do respect what some smaller churches are able to do for their community - but I have zero love whatsoever for the massive mega churches that exist just to pull money out of peoples pension cheques. If someone needs faith in their life, great, so be it. Its not for everyone - And just as I don't much like the evangelicals on the religious side, or the hard-line militant atheists Just do what you do - I'm an atheist, but I say Merry Christmas - that blows peoples minds sometimes :D This is a great story btw, One of those ' I don't know, therefore God ' types www.indy100.com/article/remote-religion-planes-sky-7382991One

Yes! Some churches do well and some do not. My church members can remove the leaders if we see they are corrupt. We vote and make decisions as a church about how things should be done. Every year we gather to go over finances but every month we are informed on the amount we have and how much goes to what charities and all. So I like that and anyone in my church interested in finance or accounting can help. I was even asked to work with finances there to make sure everything balances and goes where it needs to since I have a BA in that. An offer I am still considering

An offer I am still considering That seems like it could be a good secure opportunity Elizabeth - Besides, since you have a BA it would only help you in the future as it is in your line of education. So as long as it is ethical and you're comfortable then I say why not? The church needs to be able to make a little money, its a business after all, but donations to it should be spread back to the local community and that will only strengthen its standing. I am absolutely fine with this kind of action, but as mentioned the 100,000 seat mega churches HAVE TO END, they are just fleecing people out of what little they have and the participents are never giving back, people are dying broke because they have given everything and just have nothing left for themselves. Religion is fine, organized religion is awful, ideologies are the worst of all.

To pray or not to pray - is a question.
