I say that flesh dies and vanishes while the soul goes to a new location/world where flesh cannot enter. It'll be a different experience and nothing like it was on Earth.

What happens to us when we die? Sent from my SM-G361H using Tapatalk I honestly don't know. I do HOPE that there is something beyond us, I've lost too many people in my life not to hope. Yet at the same time it truly scares me that if there is something that comes to us after death, that all of this...is merely a test.

So far the mind seems to be purely material. You poke or prod the brain, it has an effect on the consciousness, that makes sense if its a construct of the brain, and not of some external force. Additionally an external force is unnecessary, and if it does interact with the brain, it has some effect on reality, then it should be detectable, but its never been demonstrated. And along with the fact that we evolved like any other animal, trough generations of more and more complex brains, that gives even less reason to think that the mind is anything other than the product of the brain. It's the most parsimonious explanation.
And so I really think that there isn't anything after death. Your mind stops existing. There is no you anymore. It's the most likely and parsimonious explanation, and if anything i just see it as more of an inspiration to make the one life of me and my fellow mortal's better.

Yeah I agree with this, I believe it all fades to black. You cease to exist just like before you were born.

For the fate of people and the fate of animals is the same. As one dies, so dies the other; they all have the same breath. People have no advantage over animals since everything is futile. All are going to the same place; all come from dust, and all return to dust. Who knows if the spirit of people rises upward and the spirit of animals goes downward to the earth? I have seen that there is nothing better than for a person to enjoy his activities because that is his reward. For who can enable him to see what will happen after he dies?

fschmidt in your belief there's nothing after death? Because all that verse says to me is our flesh disappears. It came from dust and shall return to it. But that the rest we don't know because have not seen. So it doesn't say there is nothing aftet death necessarily.

We should focus on life on Earth because that is what we know.
