I’m an Agnostic, I believe religion is something the human brain invented in its early stage of (civilian) development. It was the answer to many unanswered things it had to process. Some kind of coping mechanism.
You see a trend of religions all over the world. They each created their own religions to answer their questions. For example Native Americans didn’t know what Christianity or Judaism was. So they created their own polytheistic religion. That to them was the way they could reason how things were as they were. Same for Viking Scandanavia with Paganism, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and so on. Then you have Eastern religions which center more around philosophical beliefs like Buddhism, Taoism, etc. You have Hinduism. You have Africans who believe the great JuJu at the top of the mountain or whatever. You have Mormons who created a religion very recently compared to most other religions. Finally you have the Abrahamic religions which the majority of the modern world follow. You have monotheistic, polytheistic, Eastern, Western, Abrahamic, etc religions. But the thing that they all have in common was when each civilization was going through their civilian development they came up with a way to answer their questions. All through different times in history in different parts of the world.
All religions can’t be right because they all contradict each other but they can all be wrong.
Believing that there is something else out there greater than us that created this isn’t an illogical opinion. To point at a specific religion with a specific god and holy book is illogical and not plausible in my opinion.

i believe that the smarter we r the more miserable we r because we know where this world is heading and thats y many smart ppl r depressed and have commited a serious of suicides meanwhile the more dumb ppl r the happiest on earth It’s funny the foolish and naive are the happy ones, while awake and intelligent people feel negative consequence. I envy people who are genuinely happy, but I’d rather be aware and not brainwashed.

You mention why you're not a hard atheist, but why do you not describe yourself as a soft atheist? (Unless I missed something :P)

You mention why you're not a hard atheist, but why do you not describe yourself as a soft atheist? (Unless I missed something :P) I gotta be honest I have heard of Agnostic-Atheist and Agnostic-Theist. I never heard the term soft Atheist. From what I have looked up it says “Agnostics do not go so far as rejecting the belief that gods may exist, while negative atheists do so. Negative atheists have decided they do not believe gods exist, while agnostics are still on the fence. In a conversation with a believer, an agnostic might say, "I haven't decided whether is a God." A negative atheist would say, "I don't believe in God." In both of these cases, the burden of proof that there is a God is placed on the believer. The agnostic and atheist are the ones who need convincing and who don't have to prove their stance” As well as “Weak or strong, atheism deals with the question of belief. Agnosticism on the other hand, deals with the question of knowledge.” So, a weak atheist is someone who does not believe in any god. An agnostic is one who has no knowledge of gods existence. Consequently, you can get all sort of combinations like agnostic atheist, agnostic theist, gnostic theist, etc.” I think at this point the line is very thin, so thin in fact I couldn’t tell you which one I’d consider my self more. Perhaps I say I am agnostic because I feel it’s the least ignorant stance available. Yes I am technically a non believer but that is because I question the knowledge of religion. I could probably be considered either or both to be honest though.

Not to offend anyone, but all religion is most likely man-made and therefore horse shit. I am very interested in deism however, which rejects religion but not necessarily the concept of God.

Spirituality or one's connection with the life force (call it God or Nature or an abstract randomness) is undeniable, and ever existent. Every religion has a birth date, but spirituality predates the oldest of religions. The followers of spiritual gurus often create a legacy for mankind that turns out to be a religion.
Hinduism is actually an umbrella of various faiths and beliefs with hundreds of deities, mysticism, concepts of Vedanta, Yoga, and much more but essentially converging on spirituality as one's connection to the ultimate divine. I believe the essence of other religions is no different.

hinduism has completely lost its way now, especially with the rss based hindutva taking control, and only those rajasthani/gujrati traders dominating it.
Yes, you used the correct word- VEDANTI, which is actual definition of hinduism.
Technically, there are no hindus, they are VEDANTI.

Not to offend anyone, but all religion is most likely man-made and therefore horse shit. I am very interested in deism however, which rejects religion but not necessarily the concept of God. The thing people mostly get wrong about atheism is that it isn't a belief, rather a -lack- of belief in a deity - We are all subject to change with new evidence, however. But you can't just say I believe it to be true because I feel it in my heart, that's unquantifiable nonsense and it is merely you being a product of your upbringing. Were there external forces at work that seeded our planet? Was there one omnipotent being that did it, If so why did ' he/she/it ' need humans to the texts, how corrupted are they anyways. Anti-theism is something else entirely, it is the abject dismissal of religion/gods in all forms and they will always counter anything you have. Bring scientific, quantifiable, peer-reviewed proof that a god exists and yes, you will sway my opinions. Tell me I'm stupid for not believing your particular imaginary man lives in the sky and I'll call you cuckoo. At this point religion, in all forms was just people not knowing something.. Walk through a forest and a twig snaps behind you but no-one is there ' I don't know, therefore god ' You can't be spooked into believing something just because something goes bump in the night. If you abjectly dismiss the scientific realm of tens of thousands of texts describing how life on this planet came to be then that's up to you, but being given an answer that must never be questioned is just lazy. Pseudoliparis swirei is a snailfish found living in the oceans at a depth of five miles.
It has no clue that above it there are creatures that breathe air, walk upright on two legs and communicate with each other from miles apart using screens that light up. Imagine what an alien concept that would be. I doubt the little critter could comprehend any of it even if shown it.
Any god worthy of the title must operate on a level so far above our own, that we couldn't comprehend it even if shown it. Trying to look up at it would make us the snailfish, and god the human race.
That's basically why I consider myself to be agnostic.

That's basically why I consider myself to be agnostic. That was a good way of putting it with the snailfish. But even though snail fish don't realize there's higher beings above when there are...then why can't people consider it? There's so much above us we haven't explored.

We can consider it. I just don't think we could ever work it out. One day though perhaps we will, and agnostics everywhere will feel very silly 😆

Then by silly do you mean everyone will be like, "Oops, we were wrong, oh well." Or that everyone will be like, "Oh shoot, we should have been smarter, now we're doomed." Because when people feel like eating anything in the water they'll just grab it and kill it. If the snailfish wasn't prepared...it's dead.

Well agnosticism is founded on the belief that we can't know the existence or nature of god, which is what I believe. So if we do get proof somehow that there's a god and can understand it, I'll feel silly for thinking we couldn't 😁
