As the title of the thread suggests, I'm looking for songs with wise lyrics.
I'll get things started with a Townes Van Zandt tune. There are so many brilliant and insightful lines in this one, hope you enjoy it.
Also, the songs don't need to be in English.

Thanks for the tune. Not one I've heard before, my Floyd listening has been limited to DSOTM, The Wall and WYWH with a few other tracks here and there. Gotta admit this doesn't speak to me all that much. To my reading it's about transitioning into a relationship. What do you find in it that appeals?

I will not dare to assert with any confidence what exactly a song lyrics, or a poem for that matter, expresses. It does refer to becoming part of a relationship, but I read something more abstract from it; That it was a transitioning from being an outsider to becoming part of mainstream. -From the discomfort of not belonging, but still with an inner drive to be active, to ending up dead inside when one finally finds one's place and plateau in this world.
'Cause there's a chill wind blowing in my soul And I think I'm growing old
'Cause there's no wind left in my soul And I've grown old

I'd like to say there are plenty, but... who knows? It depends lotta on what 'wise' means?
Okay, here's the choice of mine; one of the wisest and heart-touchable song, I'd say. (The few might find it wiseless with I ain't completely agree though.):
Nina Simone - Sinnerman
Sinnerman, where you gonna run to? Sinnerman, where you gonna run to? Where you gonna run to? All on that day.
Well I run to the rock, Please, hide I run to the rock Please hide me me, I run to the rock Please hide me, Lord All on that day.
But the rock cried out, I can't hide you the rock cried out I can't hide you the rock cried out I ain't gonna hide you guy All on that day.
I said, Rock, What's a matter with you rock? Don't you see I need you, rock? Lord, Lord, Lord All on that day.
So I run to the river, It was bleedin' I run to the sea It was bleedin' I run to the sea It was bleedin' All on that day.
So I run to the river, It was boilin' I run to the sea It was boilin' I run to the sea It was boilin' All on that day.
So I run to the Lord, Please hide me Lord Don't you see me prayin'? Don't you me down here prayin'?
But the Lord said Go to the devil the Lord said Go to the devil He said Go to the devil All on that day.
So I run to the devil, He was waitin' I run to the devil, He was waitin' Ran to the devil, He was waitin' All on that day.
I cried: POWER! POWER!...
Oh I run to the river, It was boilin' I run to the sea, It was boilin' I run to the sea, It was boilin' All on that day.
So I ran to the Lord I said, Lord, hide me Please hide me, please help me All on that day.
He said child where were you When you oughta been prayin'? I said, Lord, Lord, hear me prayin' Lord, Lord, hear me prayin' Lord, Lord, hear me prayin' All on that day.
Sinnerman you oughta been prayin' Oughta been prayin Oughta been prayin' Sinnerman oughta been prayin' All on that day.
I cried: POWER!..
