Take-Two boss says linking videogames to gun violence is 'disrespectful' to victims Strauss Zelnick said that if games caused violence, he wouldn't sell them. “Entertainment is part of people’s daily joy and it’s consumed worldwide and it’s the same worldwide. Gun violence is uniquely American and that has to change, and that will only change if we address the real issues.” If there was evidence to suggest games like Take-Two’s crown jewel, Grand Theft Auto, were causing real world gun violence, Zelnick said he wouldn’t be in the business. “In the same way that I wouldn’t choose to market substances that cause people to get sick,” he said. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/take-two-ceo-says-its-disrespectful-to-blame-shootings-on-games/

I'd rather state that it's moronic to blame games for violence. Violence has gone down all over the West the past two decades, and the police in my country suggested a few years ago that one reason for the dropping crime rate overall was that young people stayed indoors to play computer games. In the good old days, many would be out on the street, causing problems out of boredom.

Well, there are many things that cause violence. For some it can be violent games. Like if they want to do harm but were told it's wrong then they'll do it in video games...until video games no longer fill their desire and they need to do it in real life. But it only applies to violent games of course. Those involved in real life violence like at home or with friends are prone to be violent to society too. So the more violence you're exposed to and the more it seems ok to you then the more you'll be involved in it.
