Of course, many scientists would never accept that it was God's judgment on a wicked region, but they are now acknowledging that it did happen. Either way, the Biblical account of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was accurately recorded making the Bible a reliable source for history, which is astounding all by itself; you'd think this would get people to believe everything in the Bible is true, but sadly it won't. Many will still be willingly ignorant sad

it was God's judgment on a wicked region If it was, then we should see the same happen to California which is worse than Sodom and Gomorrah.

Could it have been an extraterrestrial alien attack or so !
Some parts of the biblical stories seem like abduction stories.
Radioactivity have also been reported to be detected in the remains of the Indus valley civilization as well.

I read some works on extraterrestrial contact with the earth years back, and they had this theory that the Sodom was destroyed by an alien attack. They used the stories of the testaments to back up this extraterrestrial contact.

Statistically speaking, the probability of aliens existing is quite high.

And yet, we’ve never seen any shrug What’s the probability of everything in the universe falling into place so perfectly by chance?

Do you know any particular verses where it could have made them think aliens? Or maybe by extraterritorial they mean God since He's not of this world. Shrug

It was a few years back, and I don't exactly remember the verses. There were references to 'chariots of fire' taking certain people to the heavens and so on.
In terms of religious scriptures, the Bahais also claim the presence of creatures in other worlds, and are known to be okay with the theme of extraterrestrials.

This one? About God taking Elijah to heaven? 2 Kings 1 And it came to pass, when the Lord was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. 11 Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. But that just says God did it not extraterrestrials. What's Bahais?

The Bahais are a new monotheistic Abrahamic faith founded in nineteenth century. A difference between the bahais and the earlier abrahamic faiths is that they consider Krishna and Buddha of the east as prophets of God, along with Moses, Christ and Muhammad.
They have a universal approach and have striven to create peace and inter-religious harmony through dialogue and conferences. They are a fast growing religion in the world at the moment.
