This animal never drinks water in it's entire life.
They obtain enough water from the metabolic oxidation of the seeds they eat to survive and do not need to drink water at all. Banner-tailed kangaroo rats generally live in grasslands and scrub lands. They live in dry areas but have more water available to them than Merriam's kangaroo rats.
Kangaroo rat is a species of rat that belongs to the group of desert rodents. There are 23 species of kangaroo rats that are native to North America. Kangaroo rat lives in dry, arid and semi-arid habitats such as deserts, sandy and rocky areas.
They are very good jumpers and can leap up to 9′ (2.7m) to escape predators. Kangaroo rats have pouches in their cheeks to carry food back to their burrow. They have very good hearing which helps them avoid predators. They can even hear the beat of an owls wings!
Kangaroo rats move bipedally. Kangaroo rats often leap a distance of 6 feet, and reportedly up to 9 feet (2.75 m) at speeds up to almost 10 feet/sec, or 10 kph (6 mph). They can quickly change their direction between jumps.

Yeah I heard desert animals can go a long time without water or can get in from other sources as the kangaroo rat. Camels can go like half a year without water I think.
