In Genesis chapter 2, I think it says "God, made man in His image and likeness". Then, in a couple chapters later, I think it says "Seth had the likeness of Adam..." and it doesn't say that for any of Adam's other children.
I think Adam and Seth looked like God.
What do you think?

Well, if you read the entire bible it just means like God in actions. God is holy and righteous and we were created likw that. Until we chose sin. So Jesus always told us to be born again into that new person God originally made us to be. Shrug

What does "image" mean? Synonyms of that word include "likeness" and "resemblance".

The ones who choose to be wicked are not in God's image and likeness. And an image is like a statue or a painting or something that shows something to us or resembles or gives a likeness. And a person who wishes to be the image of God of His likeness strives for it. Psalm 17:15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Have you ever heard of a man that is the "spittting image" of his father?

What does "image" mean? Synonyms of that word include "likeness" and "resemblance". I will give my usual unorthodox interpretation. First, there are 2 words in Hebrew that are translated as "likeness". One is "tselem" which is this use and refers to likeness of appearance meaning external likeness. The other is "temunah" which means likeness of form or internal likeness. To go further, one has to understand that Hebrew truth "emet" is relative and that all concepts occur in the human mind, and this includes the concept of God. In the human mind, this God concept typically looks like us (superficially). So if this concept created us, then it created us in its likeness because it has our likeness in our minds. But this is only superficially, and the deep nature/form of God is nothing like us.

I don't assume I know what anyone looks like without a description...I don't think any living human has seen God currently.

And I'll mention those verses a bit later since I'm at work currently.

Moving it to Christianity board. Like seriously this guy couldn't see the whole freaking banner of Christianity board.
I didn't move his donating sperm thread from discussion lounge assuming he doesn't want general public to know that he is locked on sperm thoughts

PISTON1246Here are some of the verses you requested. The righteous resemble God... If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of Him. 1 John 2:29 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous. 1 John 3:7 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:24 So those who are born of Him is a new pwrson who resembles righteousness as He is righteous. So, this means the wicked do not resemble God.

For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Leviticus 11:44 Separate from the wicked... And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine. Leviticus 20:26

Leviticus 20:26 It says we should be holy, but it didn't say we would resemble Him or be like His image.
