One regimen I used, and still use, for weightlifting which excellent results is:
Lift everyday the specific muscle groups you desire-need to develop.
Everyday lift for 1 set 1 to 3 times a day.
Pick a weight you can lift for 1 to 5 reps for brute strength
15 to 30 reps for general all around strength.
May sure you are warmed up enough before attempting (ie up for 20 to 30 minutes of walking around) lift.
Do not exhaust yourself, but practice everyday
Real simple approach and provides energy to focus more on cardiotype activities.

That's the right way, but prior to that you must do proper warm up and cardio in order to prevent cramps and some serious body problem which you might have to deal if you do not warm up before lifting.

By passion, I am an Engineer but I do have pretty good knowledge regarding all the fitness stuffs.

There's also the STEM section here for engineering discussions as well.

I have knowledge in Mechanical Engineering as that is my choice of field.

that won't focus on a particular body part as we do it separately during workout.
