I just don't understand how they prefer to sacrifice children. Don't people know how to love their own kids anymore? Sad

From what I've studied the Aztecs were even worse regarding sacrifice and the oppression of other peoples and general cruelty. When the Spanish came to conquer the Aztecs the Natives initially sided with the Spanish as liberators.

10. Body Modification has been a tradition amongst tribal peoples of all races since recorded history began. It's no more strange than for example, the African tribes who pierce themselves and put massive discs in their lower lips.
With regards to pressing boards in to the heads of the children. Mayans had incredible brain capacities and perhaps this restructuring contributed, as it would change the general structure of the area the brain evolved in to, perhaps also change the biology of the brain its self.
With regards to drilling stones into their teeth, this seemed to be more spiritual than anything, however its likely they evolved or we evolved to begin a foundation of Dental Science from trends like this.
Making kids cross eyed seems a little drastic, but again perhaps it was just a part of their culture and seeing as they created some of the most marvellous archeological structures discovered in today's world, it certainly doesn't seem to have had any impact on vision from what I can see.
While naming children based on the Mayan calendar may seem harsh, the calendar was a gift from the diety Itzamna who is is frequently credited with bringing the knowledge of the calendar system to the ancestral Maya, along with writing in general and other foundational aspects of Maya culture. So its essentially like a Christian called their son Matthew or similar.
With regards to the use of hallucinogenics, i think the fact they developed and even recognised botanical elements such as psychadellics for having the medicinal properties they do is simply remarkable. The alchemy behind using it as a painkiller precise. And although it is somewhat of a controversial topic, modern medicine is exploring the utilization of hallucinogenics to reset the mind state of people with depression and similar mental disorders.
With regards to the sport with the 8 tonne metal ball, traditions such as these that seem barbaric to us were the norm in that time with the purpose of compelling people to overcome fears and toughen up physically. They had to make do with what they had, and were far less developed, so where this seems dangerous to us, these are people who wrestled wild boar for food and fun, and the perspective of that time was far different with regards to danger. Shiolin Monks, modern day masters of combat we all know about, use similar limb beating techniques to harden trainees up for taking blows in a fight.
With regards to sacrifice nobody logical can portray that to be a good thing however I'm doing it anyway, because although its disgusting, especially sacrificing kids, they would actually again be far tougher and capable to deal with the hader enviroment due to the conditioning they subjected themselves to. Its still boke AF though
I think the complex science and literature shown in point 4 alongside the various examples of advanced abilities that we are uncovering now goes to show it was probably a coldly logical decision by highly intelligent individuals.
With regards to piercing themselves to make incense sticks, all i can say to that is sadly we do not have an educational foundation of applied practice to know if this "mystical smoke" is what they say it is, and personally, if it came from anywhere, it would probably be the nether regions. This also perhaps had something to do with the abnormal hatred for children, deprived of the only enjoyment available while your funds disappear.
With regards to burying the dead under the house with corn in their mouths, i think that's quite cute because in burials decomposition normally happen inside the box where as these deaths probably fertilised the soil, allowing them to grow even more corn and continue the process. A self sustaining ecosystem like this is perhaps why the civilisation lasted so long.

Seems like the future of modern Western culture. Elizabeth you were looking for business ideas? Well here you go, take one of these sick traditions and make it a popular new trend. After all, modern American scum hate everything that is good and love everything that is sick and evil. So these Mayan traditions are a perfect fit.
