– Declaration of independence from Spain was signed by the head of the regional government of Catalonia Carles Putteman, said late on Tuesday (Wednesday Moscow time) on Twitter the Generalitat Autonomous region.
“The President of the Catalan regional government signed the Declaration of independence”, – stated in the message.
Signatures under the document asserting Catalonia as an independent state, as it became known to the media, put Carles Putteman, his Deputy Mr. Oriol Junqueras, the speaker of the Parliament of Catalonia Carme Forcadell and 72 deputies out of 135.

Earlier it was reported that Pujdeme urged on Tuesday the Catalan Parliament to suspend the Declaration of independence to facilitate the talks with Madrid and Brussels. The Prime Minister of the regional government explained that such a decision by Parliament would facilitate further dialogue of Catalonia with the Spanish government and the EU.
The government of Spain believes that the chief Executive of Catalonia Pujdeme in a speech on Tuesday, in fact, declared independence from Madrid, the newspaper El Pais, citing its own sources.
