Hello, this is my first post in psychology and I hope it stimulates some conversation.
I am a dark triad. This means that I combine traits (not self diagnosing, merely "sampling" so to speak) of narcissists- not necessarily clincial NPD-, Antisocial personality disorder, and Machiavellianism.
The combined traits balance each other out. How so? Let's look over each trait.
1. Narcissists tend to overplay their hand so to speak. They flaunt so much that they sometimes cause themselves social suicide, and that hurts their egos. Their egos are sensitive, and this allows them to be manipulated at times, as their actions can be predicted with ease.
2. The classic sociopath has issues with controlling his impulsivity. He cannot help but indulge himself in his lack of empathy and ergo will act out, and why? Because he has no emotional stimulation from other people. He needs something to get his hormones and his neurotransmitters rushing. It leads to failure in most low functioning cases. Their objectification of human beings leads to their committing a crime and getting locked up.
3. The Machiavellian. This one has no inherent issues. He/She manipulates freely, to get what they desire. The issue of failure and problems arising is correlated to the skill of the individual in their manipulation and managing people like chess pieces. But they don't typically have natural antisocial or narc behavior, and can enjoy things besides the rush of social prestige and adrenaline.
Now, they all counter each other out like so:
Narcissism is countered by Machiavellianism because a proper Mach always keeps an eye on his social standing, and will not let his ego be the thing he most apparently cares for. That would not be conducive to attaining control. But Narcissism in proper amounts gives the Mach an air of leader like charisma, and people like it so long as it isn't overbearing.
Machiavellianism and antisocial behavior mix well, because the sociopathic individual can have amazing intuition and on his feet thinking, the ability to cold read well. Other than that, mimicing the behavior of an antisocial allows you to use your powers of manipulation to get whatever you want regardless of the effect/consequence it has on people. You just stop caring, and it opens up new routes that someone who isn't hardened would disregard.
In the end, mixing produces a charismatic individual that has the ability to superficially connect with people while making it feel so real and deep on their end that they are entranced.
The DT will not allow himself the follies of the clinical personality disorder, but he will glean the points that benefit him.
This has been my experience and study on conditions that combine with intentionally learned behavior, please feel free to start conversations and give feedback. Have a great week.
(Edit:) also, what do you guys think of a DT VS. a leader with high EQ?

Is there a list of all the things you can be? Or just those 3? I don't know if I fit much into the 3 so curious if there are more things to compare myself too. Or is there a dark triad test?

Ultimately the only other thing that fits into the idea of the dark triad is a dark tetrad, which includes sadistic personality disorder. But that's a less useful trait in my opinion, more for pleasure Is there a list of all the things you can be? Or just those 3? I don't know if I fit much into the 3 so curious if there are more things to compare myself too. Or is there a dark triad test?

Never heard of this psychology subject before. I should start studying about it.

Having any of the three disorders on the dark triad is not something to be proud of. Seek help because these types of people after leaving hundreds of broken lives behind always come to a catastrophic end. The reign of terror will only last so long before terror reigns down upon you.
