Here's a sonnet for example. Rate how you like this language style. I rated it a 0. XD DKTrav88 here's your chance to give a 10 O thou, my lovely boy, who in thy power Dost hold Time's fickle glass, his sickle, hour; Who hast by waning grown, and therein show'st Thy lovers withering as thy sweet self grow'st; If Nature, sovereign mistress over wrack, As thou goest onwards, still will pluck thee back, She keeps thee to this purpose, that her skill May time disgrace and wretched minutes kill. Yet fear her, O thou minion of her pleasure! She may detain, but not still keep, her treasure: Her audit, though delay'd, answer'd must be, And her quietus is to render thee. Shakespearean Sonnet 126 O thou, my lovely boy, who in thy power

DKTrav88 I feel like you're trying too hard to justify it. It's just not a liked language Shrug No Iām not trying to justify it. Iām just showing that the English language was partially built from Shakespeareās work. How we speak English today and some of the words and phrases we use in English today are taken directly from Shakespeareās plays and poems. His poems and plays are still enjoyed and liked by many people today. This reminds me of the pineapple on pizza thing that was going on; it seems like a majority of people donāt like pineapple on pizza and some pizza companies were considering getting rid of it as a topping choice, but a lot of people like it still(like me), so they decided not to get rid of it. So, just because a majority of people donāt like something doesnāt mean there arenāt people who do like it. We canāt always serve just the majority. But anyway, Shakespeareās historical importance alone is enough to keep his work around and to teach about it in school. So thereās no reason to trivialize it. Though itās not like it really matters to me anyway, theyāre just plays and poems. I noticed I was one of only a few people in English class who liked it, so Iām not at all expecting anyone on this forum to like it, Iām expecting there to be hatersš which is fine with me. Iām not about to jump in front of a bus for Shakespeare š

The development of many languages of the world was influenced by literature writers and poets!

It wouldnāt surprise me if I was the only one on this entire forum who likes Shakespeare š when I was in high school only a few people in my class liked it You are not the only one. (I just voted "9") Incidentally, I came to the U.S.A. when I had nearly completed the equivalent of High School. I was required to take Trigonometry, which I loved and in which I excelled. I was also required to take English Literature (after I had taken only one year of English in Italy). Imagine my trying to understand Shakespeare's Macbeth!! I struggled through it, but I got to appreciate his "strong-sounding"poetry, as compared to the weak-sounding Italian mellifluous poetry. (In terms of thoughts, Shakespeare and Sophocles are, for me, the greatest poets in history.)
