Calculating the orbital elements from given state vectors

This problem is known as the Kepler problem and is a special case of the two body problem in which one of the bodies (a celestial body) is much larger than the other (satellite). Also, I'm interested to see if you can calculate the state vectors of a satellite from Earth with a telescope.
